On February 20, Landrum Lodge initiated three new EA's into our family. The degree went smoothly, although an electrical malfunction forced us to perform our duties in a darkened lodge room. The darkness added a superb and surreal atmosphere, which made the evening quite interesting, and Landrum, as she usually does, performed with decorum, so conspicuously absent from many events these days. We met on the level, acted by the plumb and parted on the square. First Friday in March will be the Fellowcraft Degree, which is always looked forward to for instruction and fellowship. Good luck to SD,Doug Hamsher.

namesake

Landrum Lodge #48 is a Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons which works under the Jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of Georgia. Landrum Lodge received dispensation to operate in 1881,, and was chartered in 1882, the child of it's Mother Lodges, Ancient Landmark #231, and Solomons #1. The noble reasoning for it's establishment is addressed on the Landrum history page accessible by the link below this article, as well as a brief history and a list of some interesting personalities associated with the lodge, the City of Savannah, and Georgia.

Landrum History and Her Namesake

"That excellent key, a Freemason's tongue, which should speak well of a Brother absent or present, but when unfortunately that cannot be done with honour and propriety, should adopt the excellent virtue of the Craft, which is silence."

Since the very inception of the ideological colony of "Georgia", as proposed in England, our state has been steeped in Masonic influence and personalities affiliated with the Craft. Georgia Masons hold their pride firmly within their breasts at the Masonic history of the state, from the oldest operating Lodge in the United States, to the various heroes and personalities that have been witness to the mysteries of our Royal Art in the beautiful state of Georgia.
More about Georgia Masonry can be found on the Georgia Masonic History page.
