In operation since 1971, we are New York City's leading low-cost psychotherapy service. A professional state-licensed staff offers individual therapy, marriage and couple counseling, child/adolescent therapy, crisis intervention and group therapy. The services of The New York Counseling Center are tailored to the specific needs of the individual, group or organization.

Professional Help

Our staff consists of experienced, qualified, highly committed New York State certified social workers. Psychologists and psychiatrists are also available for consultation and ongoing treatment. Budget-Conscious Help

Because we are committed to providing affordable psychotherapy, The New York Counseling Center considers the individual financial status of clients when determining fees. Fees are set on a sliding-scale basis and range from $35.00 to $125.00. Our reduced $25.00 fee is made available to individuals who meet certain financial criteria.

Help Day or Night

There is no waiting list and clients are assigned within 48 hours. In addition to weekday appointments, weekend and evening hours are also available. For emergencies that may occur on weekends, evenings and holidays, a clinician who carries a pager can be reached 24 hours a day.

To Get Help

A client can call The New York Counseling Center directly at 212-362-1086 to schedule an appointment for an intake interview or the referring professional may make the first contact. If the referring professional is able to provide us with sufficient background material necessary for us to make an assignment to the appropriate therapist, the initial intake interview is not required.
