When your worms arrive, they'll be a little stressed from shipping. Any livestock can lose as much as 10 percent body weight when shipped due to water loss and stress, though they pick it back up rather quickly when restored to normal conditions. Gently pour the worms on TOP of the prepared bedding, and let them enter the new environment on their own. They should do so rather quickly to escape the light if your bedding is correct. Pour the worms, shipping medium and all, in the bin, as we try to include some of the bedding they were in,which should contain some eggs,(at no extra charge to you), to alleviate stress and inoculate their new home. I would leave a light on for two or three days until they get used to new environs. Try to refrain from feeding for a few days, as the bedding will contain some nourishment, and the cupping agent we include in the shipping medium is good, though you can bury some precomposted scraps ahead of time...when they settle in they'll find 'em.
