HIGHLIGHTS FROM NEWSLETTER-Editor, Joyce Newhouse....Honor & Remember our Veterans-Let's Ring It Again!! AMERICANISM-POW/MIA Recognition Day. BUDDY POPPY-Wreathes were made for the VA Hospitals. CANCER AID & RESEARCH-Our Auxiliary donates $15.00 monthly. HOSPITAL-Items were collected for the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. Our Auxiliary donates $20.00 per month to the VA Hospital Fund. MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY PROJECTS were completed. COMMUNITY SERVICE-Volunteer, it's a GOOD Thing! PUBLICITY-Give newspaper articles, photos & postcards to our Dept. Historian. REHABILITATION-Birthday cards, bingo parties, items for Operation Stand Down & the VA Home were provided by our Ladies. VFW NATIONAL HOME-School supplies, soup labels & $10.00 per mo. were given. YOUTH ESSAY-Is Freedom really free. VOICE OF DEMOCRACY-Reaching Out to America's future. YOUTH ACTIVITIES-Food & clothing for a family in need, $36.25 in School supplies, safety quiz sheet & home alone rules were provided to kids. LEGISLATIVE-Emails, Letters, Handouts & Website provided info. to Members & Legislators RE: Veteran's Issues & Bills before Congress.

Mrs. Peggy J. Barker, District 9 Legislative Chairman, receives Cold War Recognition Certificate for her years of employment with Naval Intelligence-Dept. of Defense, Washington D.C. The certificate was presented during VFW Post 8516's monthly meeting at the Elkview, WV Community Center by Commander Tom Newhouse & Ladies Auxiliary President Eloise Gandee.

Post 8516 Christmas Party was a BIG Success!
