Information for Prospective English Teachers Contact Us/Links ESL. A teacher normally teaches 2 groups of students (age 15 to 50) in a group of 16 students. Total teaching time is 16 hours per week (1 hour is 45 minutes). Sometimes a teacher might only teach only one group due to other responsibilities and projects. The native English teachers serve closely in support of the Kazakhstani teachers who teach the beginners to pre-intermediate. The native English speakers teach the intermediate to Advanced. We provide a curriculum using Headway or Interchange depending upon the needs of the students and the desires of the teachers. We have 120 students. If we had a teacher with a heart for teaching children, we would arrange a childrens group. We also provide training to local doctors who need to improve their English to upgrade their medical skills. TERM: One semester Aug 30 - Jan , two semesters Feb- May and summers June 25- Aug 5 ORPHANs. We are just beginning training for orphans so that they are better able to transition to the mainstream society. We need people who will love these kids and help them to assimilate into the local culture. TEAM: We have a broad based team from several organizations of about 25 expatriates. Our team varies from 2 to 4 people depending upon the project. SUBJECTS: English, Business English. Other skills: Depending upon your passion, we can place you where you will be effective. SITES: Astana, Karaganda, Oral --depending upon the target population. ESL is Astana and Oral. TRAINING: All of our native English teachers have experience and training. Some are native speakers who are given training through Educational Services International in California, some have taken intensive ESL training to facillitate English learning, some are certified English teachers, others have advanced degrees such as a Masters in ESL or a Phd.

Sometimes we have an English professional who will provide specialty courses such as Teaching Methods and Professional Skills for Kazakhstani teachers. We call these courses Teacher Professional Enhancement Courses similar to Continuing Education. We sometimes offer translator courses and medical English courses depending upon teacher availability. |
