Do you see the dark area in the middle of the Bay? That is the Homer Spit. A Spit is a landmass formed by a receding Glacier. This one is 5 miles long and we are camped right on the beach. It is 65 degrees, sunny and this is the view we see all day long. I can't tell you how wonderful it is here. Which is why we are having a hard time leaving, even though we still have Seward and Valdez to look forward to. Enter subhead content here

This was Ron's group on his Halibut fishing charter. It included one puking teenage girl, and a teenage boy who got a hernia. mmmmmmmmmmmm..... Glad I stayed home. He came back with 50 pounds of Halibut.
I'm including this picture of an Eagle to tell you a little story. Last night about 10:00pm, in the bright sunshine, I took Heidi out to pee. She was right at my feet when suddenly a HUGE shadow appeared on the ground beside me. I heard the beat of powerful wings and before my brain could register what was happening, an Eagle swooped down about 10 feet in front of me and scooped up some fish entrails that a gull had dropped. I swear that he was so close it blew my hair. I nearly had a heart attack because it could have been Heidi that the Eagle got. Our neighbor who saw the whole thing said the Eagle was within 2 feet of my head. Heidi is fine, since she can hardly see or hear, she didn't even know what happened, but I still haven't recovered! Things are really different here in Alaska. Everyday in the paper there are bear, Eagle and Moose stories. I can hardly wait to read the paper in the morning.
These are just some of the beautiful sights we are seeing around the Homer Spit.
