SEWARD

At the risk of being obnoxious,(like it's ever stopped me before), I'm going to have to show you our view in Seward. This is about 10 feet in front of El Supremo, so we don't have to carry the wine too far. :-)

The cruise ships (including the one we took last year at this time) cruise in and out right in front of us.

One of my favorite shots.

Yeah, I know it's the typical fireweed in front of the snow-capped mountains shot you always associate with Alaska. But if you're here, you have to take it.

This picture has a story. This is Ron at the top of Mt. Marathon. It is 3100 feet high and a rather treacherous climb. Ron has wanted to do this ever since he saw it last year.

Every year on the 4th of July, there is a race up and down the Mountain. Hundreds of people participate and the winner this year made it in 45 minutes. Just a little under Ron's 7 hours.

Me?....... I was watching through the binoculars from my lawn chair ready to call 911 if I saw him tumbling down the mountain.

Ron took this picture at the top of the Mountain.

When we saw these evacuation signs here last year, we could barely pronounce tsunami. Even knowing that the entire town was washed away in the earthquake of 1964 didn't make it seem real to us.

But after what happened this year in Asia, the signs took on a whole new meaning.

A tufted puffin. We've seen several but they are impossible to get a picture of, so I had to take this one in the SeaLife Exhibit.
