December 31, 2005 is the second earliest full lake of Lake Berressa's history. The earliest full lake was December 15, 1983. On the average the lake fills on February 7 and peaks in elevation on March 9. It is likely that the lake will remain at Flood Watch Stage or higher through March 2006.

Instructions to manage floodplain operations






FLOOD WARNING STAGE

Lake Berryessa (1/3/06 @ 8:00 a.m.): The lake continues its third day at FLOOD WARNING STAGE (+442 elevation). It is expected that the lake will begin to recede back to Flood Watch Stage later this week.

Property owners should consider removing their property from the floodplain. Owners upstream from Monticello Dam should contact your resort office for more information.

RV owners that have RV's parked in the floodplain may want to relocate their RV's temporarily until the threat of flooding has passed.

All property owners in the floodplain should take these precautions:

1. Remove all unsecured floating objects and improvements (picnic tables, lawn chairs, wood piles, etc.) from the deck and surrounding grounds to avoid damaging property, the natural resources, or polluting the lake.

2. Remove portable LP tanks. Secure and turn off LP tanks that will be remaining.






Flood Stages

Flood Watch Season: December 1 through April 30.

Flood Advisory: Lake is expected to reach crest (440 fmsl) within the next few weeks.

Flood Watch Stage: 440 fmsl - At this level, water starts flowing into the morning glory inlet (glory hole).

Flood Warning Stage: 442 fmsl - At this level, water has flooded several low line areas in the resorts.

Flood Stage: 444 fmsl - At this level the utilities to approximately 166 trailers will be turned off in resorts lake-wide. Portions of Oak Shores Day Use Area are closed at this level.

High Flood Stage: 448 fmsl - At this level the utilities to hundreds of trailers will be isolated. Entire resorts may be closed at this level. The Oak Shores Day Use Area may be closed at this level.
