WCF News Spy Becomes Champion!
Kyrov's Intrigue of Rodina (Spy) wins five majors and is awarded the AKC American Champion for Borzoi on November 27 at 2 p.m. at the "Turkey Curcuit" in Stockton California. Now watch for Minnie, Ian, Mata and Ladina from Rodina Borzoi. Also watch Avondale from LeReau Sighthounds.
New Blood
Acquired on September 29, 2005, Chataqua Painted Lady Rodina (Ladina) will be picked up in Austin, Texas at Wayne Rowe and Sara Whittington-Rowe's place (Chataqua) and taken to our friends R. Lynn Shell-Whitlock's place (Gryffyn's Aeyrie) in McKinney, Texas until October 19th when she will be driven to Pleasanton, California to meet with Lynn and Cleve Dufer while at the BCNC and Del Valle majors. Spy, Ian and Mata will also be there to show in the October 22nd BCNC Specialty, with Spy also competing on the 23rd at the major Del Valle all breed show the next day. Ladina will see her new home in Dairyville late that night.
Nikishka Had Cancer
Dairyville Calif. (8/22/05) Nikishka was sent to the hospital in the morning of August 9th. Niki had a high fever and was sent to the Valley Veterniary Hospital in Red Bluff. Under an I.V. for three days, she slowly recovering from a 106 degree F temperature. The following evening, her temperature was lowered to 102 degrees F. She came home August 11. Through the next 11 days her temperature was back to a normal tempature of 100.5 degrees F. However, her limp noticed before she went to the hospital was getting worse. On June 22, what was first thought to be a healing wound was found to be a fast spreading cancer that had spread to her lungs in the 11 days from the last ex-ray. We mercifully let her go that day. She was missed by her close kennel mates that evening. When Niki left the kennel for the last time, all of her mates howled. Perhaps they knew. We did not. We will miss her kind and gentle ways. Bear seems to be especially depressed. Kinda sad.
Puppies are Growing!
Dairyville Calif. (9/10/05) Avondale is doing well in Woodland, California with her owner Ruth Herrmann! Mata and Ian in Dairyville are over 60 pounds each. The puppies qualified to be in the 6 to 9 Borzoi Class on August 28th.
Kennel Being Enlarged
The Kennel building is being enlarged to house Ian, Mata, and now Ladina, with room for two more in the future. The kennel is due to be completed this fall. White Cottage Farm |
