The Borzoi has a long body; a heavy, silky, somewhat curly coat, usually white in color with markings of black, gray, tan, or red; a long, narrow head; dark eyes; small, fine ears; long legs; and a long tail that is carried low. The male is about 71 to 84 cm (about 28 to 35 in) in height at the shoulder and weighs 34 to 51 kg (75 to 110 lb); the female, somewhat smaller, weighs about 9 kg (about 20 lb) less. An animal of great speed and courage, the borzoi makes a gentle pet. Borzois are still known to be swift and majestic.
