About Grief Rituals Founder Cynthia Greenberg: I was inspired to start Grief Rituals to help people connect with the healing power of nature as a way to assist with processing grief. I am fortunate and grateful to have discovered the earth's power to heal my own grief when I was still very young.
Over the years I have sought to give back to the earth through my work in ecological restoration on coal mined land in southeastern Ohio, environmental education and tropical forest management with the US Peace Corps, and urban forestry with the Chicago Park District. I've also helped countless people keep their work and living spaces alive and growing through my interior landscaping work. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Forest Biology from The Ohio State University.
I am also a professional stage manager and a member of Actor's Equity Association. I've spent more than a decade keeping big theatrical "rituals" running smoothly and countless hours serving and soothing the nerves of the actors, directors, producers, designers and stage crew involved in those productions.
I have co-owned a successful natural foods store in San Francisco, CA. I've also served as a volunteer at Maitri Hospice after receiving training through Rigpa San Francisco's Spiritual Care Program. Working with the dying and their loved ones in this and in many other situations helped inspire Grief Rituals. For some time I have a sought for a way to combine my love of nature and my love of people and performance. I am honored to be of service in this way.
In addition, I am a shamanic practitioner, and a TranceDance facilitator. I am trained in foot reflexology, as well as two other foot massage techniques: Chakra Energy Massage (pioneered by German reflexologist Mariana Uhl) and rebirthing massage. I also enjoy surfing, I practice ashtanga yoga, mindfulness meditation, and outdoor and artistic pursuits of all kinds!
I currently reside in southern California.
