Our Mission

The Libertarian Party was formed in late 1997 as an affiliate of the state LP. The state LP looks to county affiliates for a number of things, including candidate recruitment, campaign volunteers and local happenings.

Our mission is to build a competitive third party that champions low taxes and civil liberty. Our philosophy is simple: government exists to protect the constitutional rights of its citizens and to provide for the common defense. Otherwise, it should stay out of people's everyday lives. In return for this freedom, the people must always bear responsibility for their actions.

It's this combination of fiscal conservatism and social tolerance that distinguishes us from the other guys. But the bottom line is that we believe in less government on ALL issues, ALL the time.

To accomplish this, the LP of Davidson County sends out regular press releases to the local media sources. We also contact residents through phone/mail/e-mail. And of course, we run candidates for office.

We believe the country is in desperate need of a political party whose principles mirror those of the Founding Fathers. In that regard, we are your last best hope....
