My Grad Schools

University of Tennessee Department of Anthropology

I chose the University of Tennessee as a possible grad school for me primarily based on the location that is relatively close to where I live. UT also offers a wide variety of financial support for their students, and they actually offer a MA and PhD in Archaeology, which has been difficult for me to find. They have a research lab for their archaeology department and they are ranked among the top 100 Universities in the country.

University of North Carolina Anthropology Department

I chose the University of North Carolina based mainly on the increased level of requirements for admission. They also have a larger staff than UT and they also offer a MA and PhD in classical archaeology. Finincial help is also available from this institution. As noted under UT, it is difficult to find grad programs in the area of archaeology and this school was the nearest location to me following UT.

University of Kentucky Department of Anthropology

I decided that if it is not possible for me to pursue a grad program in archaeology then I will go for anthropology. UK offers a PhD and MA in anthropology. A major draw for me is their wide range of research taking place, a larger faculty than UT or UNC and also the increased requirements for admission. Another major factor in this choice is the location near to home.

Ohio State University Anthropology Department

Ohio State was mainly chosen due to two factors. Their large faculty that doubles most of the other schools I looked into, and the fact that they are also ranked among the top 100 Universities in the nation. They offer a MA and PhD in Anthropology, which is one of the possible paths I may take. The main disadvantage to me is the increased distance from home.
