And no, this is not a picture of my home but I thought it would make you laugh. It did me. My home is located near the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. It is a three bedroom, two bath home that was built in 1947. I am a disabled person looking for responsible people who would be interested in helping to make needed repairs to my home. All materials and supplies needed to complete the repair work will be provided.

Patricia, Stockton, California What follows are a few of the ideas that people have shared with me. The possibilities are many. Developing a self-sustaining living environment that could include developing and installing a composting toilet along with a rainwater catchment system to use in the watering of the garden.
There is already a vermiculture composting system being used to recycle kitchen waste along with all other waste products that can be used in this system.
Also, it would be great to explore solar food cooking and food preservation such as food dehydration.
Living off the "GRID" would also be a very good exploration of a self-sustaining environment.

The new heat/air unit has now been installed. I had no idea just how ill living without heat was making me until now that I have heat when it is needed.
The new toilets have been installed. This is the first time in three years that we have been blessed with having a working toilet. These two new toilets that I had stored here waiting for someone to help me install them were installed by people that heard about my situation and wanted to make sure I had these two toilets installed and in good working condition. They refused to accept any money from me in payment for this needed help. They even refused to allow me to pay for the few items from the hardware store that they went and picked up to complete the installation of the toilets. They told me that even the old broken toilet that remained in the back bathroom was causing a lot of water damage to the wood floor back there so now I will no longer have that problem to worry about any longer. The broken shower, bathtub and sink need to be repaired. Materials, parts and supplies are on hand.
Patched water pipe needs to be replaced. What a plumber told be a few years ago when he helped me move a water faucet, was that the 60 year old galvanized water pipes needed to be replaced as there were spots that if touched would collapse the pipe in places.
Laundry room roof needs to be braced up.
Wheel chair ramps need to be selected, ordered and installed. I would go ahead and order them now on my own but do not want to order what may turn out to be the wrong type of ramp. So I will wait until someone wants to help out with this need. I ordered the hydraulic lift to carry around my electric power chair and electric scooter for the back of my car and now I am stuck not knowing how to get this working on my own so I don't want to make that same mistake with the wheel chair ramps. Also, I do still need help with installing the hydraulic lift I just mentioned.
Dinning room wall needs to be opened up along with a doorway put in.
There are a couple of electrical circuits that need to be upgraded. Materials, parts are on hand.
The two new light fixtures need to be installed in the laundry room. These light fixtures are on hand.
I could use some help with completing the painting on the outside of the house. The paint and supplies are on hand. |
