Doll Shoe Demo

Cheryl kindly took some photos while Marion taught us to make the shoes. The technique shown is from a pattern by Christine Shively, and she had graciously allowed us to show it here. Patterns can be obtained by contacting Christine directly at shively@ruralnet2.com.

#1 Make sure your pattern pieces will fit. Try them on the foot and
scale up or down as needed.

#2 Cut the vamp and the side/heel band out of ultra suede, felt etc.
Glue vamp (top piece) around foot leaving enough at the toe to glue to
the sole. Glue side heel band around foot. See picture #3. Let dry
until tacky so it won't come apart while doing the rest of the work.

#4 Spread tacky glue on bottom of foot and place a piece of shoe fabric
larger than foot over the glue. Try to make sure all edges are glued to
the sole. See picture #5. Let dry until tacky then trim away excess
sole material. Using a contrasting thread, do a tiny whip stitch around
the sole edge. This is mostly for decoration, but adds a lot of detail
to the shoe.

#6 Finished shoe. Add buttons, bows or other embellishments to the top
of the shoe.
