The lace seems to crop up more and more often, so I moved it to its own page.

I knit up Emily Ocker's Lace Garland shawl in Brown Sheep Cotton Fine using the "more than circular" technique, starting with size 5 needles, and ending with size 13. It came out 72" across! I started in February, and finished the week before Halloween. It took about 1100 or 1200 yds and was quite an enjoyable knit! I think Aunt Barbara will be pleasantly surprised on Christmas day. There's more pics on the Knitting page. 2003.

Aunt Barbara wearing her shawl. Thanks to my father in law, Dan Fitch, for taking this lovely picture (and the one of me on the home page).

suncatch3-240w.jpg

Over the (2003) holidays, I began knitting some of the suncatchers from Gloria Penning's book Knitted Lace in Miniature into dishcloths using #2 needles and Euroflax sportweight linen. I gave most of them as gifts, but finally knit one for myself. ;) It's about 7" across, one of the smaller patterns in that book. 2004

Lily Chin shawl

This shawl was knit in Brown Sheep Cotton Fine on size 3 needles. I used Lily Chin's "Charlotte's Easy Lace Shawl" pattern, modifying the long (cast-off) edge. Instead of garter stitch, I used 1x1 rib, and knitted in 12 buttons and buttonholes as I went. 2003

blatterspitzen.jpg

This doily is called Blatterspitzen, and I knitted it as part of a KAL on the Niebling Lace Knitters yahoo group. It's about 14" across, side to side. I used size 20 cebelia and size 0 needles.

butterflypi-560w.jpg

This is my Butterfly Pi shawl, made as a Christmas gift for my mother. It is 60" across, weighing in at 1lb, 5oz. Took almost 3 skeins of Lion Brand Fisherman's Wool knit up on size 9 needles. Since she loves butterflies, I hunted down a variety of butterfly and flower stitch patterns. The huge one is from Barbara Walker's 4th Treasury. I added the antennae myself. 2004
