This first section is picture from the Goddess/Muse Round Robin project that ran from June 1 to Sept. 15, 2003. My partners were Billie Bennington, Heather Woytash, and Helen Grossman. Thanks ladies, it was tons of fun!

Check back soon, I have invited my RR partners to send me their pics so we can see all the dolls in all their stages.
P.S. - Billie's pics are here, added in chronological order. Thanks, Billie!

Helen's Goddess/Muse

This is the first doll to arrive in my mailbox: a lovely female torso from Helen. I gave her arms and a head, then sent her off to Billie.

Billie gave her wild hair and some ornamentation on her breasts and hand.

Heather's Ajyst

The next doll I got was Ajyst. She had a beautiful face and glorious red and multicolor-bead hair, but no clothes. I made her a dress.

Billie accessorized in a major way! Boots for those frigid Russian winters, and the golden book that all our names are written in.

Billie's Crone

The crone doll came next, wonderfully decorated. It took a while to figure out how to add anything, since she already looked complete. I added shisa mirrors covered in black tulle, with embroidery in the shape of lozenges to hold them in place. I also took a gold pen and added highlights and details to many of the elements to help bring it all together visually.

Linda's Sheila-Na-Gig

sdpiscescomposite.jpg

I wanted to make a sheila-na-gig, which is a figure sometimes found carved in stone above doorways in old Irish churches. I decided to construct her out of interlocking layers to give her the look of a releif carving without being simply a square with stitching. She came back to me truly transformed!

Billie fancied her up a bit with some fabric that reminds me of the vast swirling unformed void of past and future! (Melodramatic, yes, but it's my page.) Beads defining the individual fingers are the final touch for stage 2.

Heather added the beaded knotwork on her breasts, and Helen gave her a beautiful face.
