USS INDIANAPOLIS ATOMIC BOMBS Decisions
Although Americans had no known loss of life from Atomic Bombs, there were approximatly 50 prisoners of war in Hiroshima at the time (nationality unknown) This item is placed here to commemorate thousands of lives lost, due to the decisions of The Japanese Rulers, not to surrender. The battle of Okinawa, where American losses exceeded 20,000, and Japanese losses of over 200,000 prompted President Truman to use The Atomic Bomb, effectively ending the war with Japan, but causing another estimated 300,000 Japanese lives lost.
