Sunscreen for Venus

View of sunscreen for 2004 daytime Venus photography with my 8" aperture Cave Astrola reflector. The 4 wood struts are 8 feet long. Each strut is half of a 1 by 2 inch furring strip cut lengthwise. The large hole is 9-inches in diameter.

Partial solar eclipse

Sunscreen for Venus (sideview)

Sideview of sunscreen. (Yes, the telescope had to be rebalanced with extreme prejudice)

The partial solar eclipse of 6/10/2002 from Raton, New Mexico. Image taken at 7:08 pm MDT with a Unitron 2-inch aperture refractor at 45 power (afocal) with neutral density filter over scope. HP PhotoSmart 210 digital camera used with 1/100 sec. exposure - chip size is 960 by 1280 pixels. The color closely matches view of sun through smoke from forest fires 30 miles west.
