What Pipers Say!

To: Tone Czar From Barbara MacRobie, St. Louis

Dear Chris:

I found Abington Highlander's new Highland Pipe Socks on your website when I was searching for waxed yellow hemp, and placed an order. They arrived a couple of days ago. I wanted you to know that I think they're terrific. I've had my pipes for only a few months and have been paranoid about keeping them in pristine condition. Since I'm trying to get only the chanter going as of yet, I've even left the pipe socks on the tenor drones when they're out of the box. As a seamstress, too, I appreciate the workmanship that went into them. The fabric is high-quality thick fleece, and all the seams are enclosed.
Thanks for carrying it!.....

My pipes are by David Naill Co., a gorgeous set of DN1s with antiqued imitation ivory. They're my lifetime pipes, and I want to do everything I can to keep them in top shape....

...
I have the British Shop's Pro-Pack pipe box, and I had been planning to buy some black velvet to tuck around the pipes when flying to Chicago to visit my mom in February (is she ever in for a shock), but your custom-built socks are so superior in ease of use. What I like best about them right now, though, is the peace of mind they've given me when I lug my pipes around..

I hope you have a great success with this excellent product.

Sincerely yours,
Barbara

Sue Brannon, San Antonio, Texas,

First off, these socks are great.

I have the MacLellan pipes with the antique/smooth finish and was quite concerned about them getting scratched from the ferrules on them. Been wrapping them in towels, etc.

This is a great solution. My only recommendation would be for you to offer, for those who have sterling silver or a metal that tarnishes easily.. an option of lining the socks with an anti tarnish felt thats available. This is in fact what Ive been doing since I got the socks. I lay the lining inside the sock before closing up the sides/tops. One of these days, Ill actually sew the material in.

I know many may think this is somewhat of an extravagant add on, but I do feel its well worth the purchase to protect the finish of pipes that one intends to keep for a long time.

Theyre easily able to attach without taking up extra room (at one time I had used that grey piping insulation around the drones to prevent them from touching each other; but certainly made for a full pipe case).

Yes, thanks for coming up with a good solutionI certainly wouldnt want to have to sew in all that Velcro.

Sue

Scott Bryant, Colorado,

Hey. Great product! I'm currently playing a McCallum set with nickel and imitation.

I will be upgrading soon. Easy to use, I like the fabrics and I think it's an excellent design. Why didn't I think of this years ago?

I like the padding that the sweatshirt material gives. I just used them for the first time this weekend going to San Diego. Did a good job.

Scott
