You're going to say why should I join the Veterans of Foreign Wars? GOOD QUESTION!!. Do you respect the flag? Do you consider yourself patriotic? Are you proud of your country? Are you proud of your service? Do you care about the quality of life in your community? Do you enjoy providing community service to your neighbors? Do you enjoy providing a role model for today's youth in the community? Do you enjoy the company of other veterans and their families? Do you think that a strong national defense is needed? These are just a few of the reasons you should consider joining our ranks. If these issues are important to you, then the VFW is for you.

There are many organizations that you can join. The Veterans of Foreign Wars is an organization that you have to EARN the right to join by placing yourself in harm's way to defend the way of life we enjoy today.

Who Can Join?

VFW membership is available to all U.S. servicemembers who have earned an overseas campaign or expeditionary medal and are currently on active-duty, in the Reserves or who have been honorably discharged from the U.S. armed forces.

Those deployed in Iraq and Afghanstian are eligible for VFW membership, as well as those who have earned the Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon with Gold Border (AFESR w/GB), the Combat Action Badge (CAB) and the SSBN Nuclear Deterrent Patrol Breast Insignia. A 1995 VFW Congressional Charter amendment makes eligible all those who have served 30 consecutive days or 60 nonconsecutive days on the Korean peninsula or in its territorial waters from June 30, 1949, until the present.

Besides meeting the above requirement, the servicemember must be an U.S. citizen.

Active Duty, National Guard and Reserves are invited to apply for membership if they meet the eligibility requirements.

To join, we need a completed application, proof of elgibility and membership dues for the first year. Please contact us for more information and the application. Proof
of elgibility can be a DD-214, discharge, or other means
showing you to be overseas. If you don't know if you have the proper documentation, bring it to us for evaluation. YOu can also become a Life Member.


Directions: Take Interstate 20/59 to exit 77 go north 1/2 mile, pass by Post Office, cross RR, take 2nd right (church st) go 1/8 mile to stop sign, turn right(US 11), go 1/8 mile, turn left into VFW Parking lot.(see map at Canteen Page)

Benefits of Joining

There are several benefits to becoming a member of our organization. Along with certain savings on products, insurance and political advantages, the greatest benefit is: Our members are close friends because we share a common bond, all of us have been there, done that etc and we have a great time when we get together. Of course we also have a common interest, in giving support to our Military Veterans and Active Duty Men & Women, who fight for our Freedom or lay down their lives for the American way of life.

Membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars entitles you to a free $1,000/$1,500 personal accident protection policy; personal assistance securing government benefits and entitlements for veterans; discounts on car rentals and hotel stays; and substantial insurance discounts, including pet insurance. In addition, you also receive a free subscription to VFW Magazine and enables you to join the Pentagon Federal Credit union.

There are other intangible benefits to being a member of the VFW. The comradeship of your fellow veterans; asisting needy veterans and those that are hospitalized; community service; being a role model and interacting with schools and youth groups in the community.
