January 2010

Comrades,

Happy Nerw Year!!!!

Comrades and Sisters, 2010 is going to be a very busy year at the Post and it is going to take the efforts of everyone to make this a successful year for our Post Home. VOlunteerism at the Post had picked up by leaps and bounds and it is greatly appreciated.

The Post will make every effort to open at apropriate times for special events such as the college bowl games so stay tuned and keep in touch with the Post for those times.

The January 7th Membership Meeting and Pot Luck Supper will be an abbreviated meeting due to the BCS Championship game that evening. The Pot Luck Supper will be at 6:15 pm in the Canteen vice the Ballroom. The Membership Meeting will be held on the Ballroom side at 6:45 pm. We will have the opening ceremony, new memberships, and closing ceremony. The Canteen will be closed for the meeting as per the By-Laws.

We will be rooting on the University of Alabama Crimson Tide in the BCS Championship Bowl Game for the National Championship. There will be some kind of food items available and the kitchen will be open as well as drink specials in the canteen.

We will be having our usual Karaoke on Friday and Saturday evenings from 8:00 pm to midnight and will have drawings for prizes from those that sing.

We need all of the Post Members and Ladies Auxiliary Members out there recruiting new members for the Post. We need all of the help and new ideas we can get to make sure this Post flourishes.

We are beginning to see more and more people volunteering at the Post; more new ideas and people willing to help implement them. Let's keep this spirit going for the rest of the year.

Remember that coming in 2010, there are lots of occasions that we all can help in volunteering our services.

Memorial Day Motorcade
Memorial Day Program at the Tuscaloosa VAMC
Buddy Poppy
Veterans Day Motorcade
Buddy Poppy
Veterans Day Ceremony at the Tuscaloosa VAMC
Veterans Day Programs at local schools
Christmas Parade
And the list goes on and on.

Commuity Service Keep in mind that we submit a Community Service Activity form to State. We will be submitting this on a monthly basis. Please keep track of any community service activities you perform. We need all of the input we can get for the reports. Be sure to keep track of all of your volunteer efforts so we can put them on the report.
