Our Business Philosophy We believe people should get what they pay for. It is our goal to make sure our clients are happy. Our business is dedicated to the production of good quality, durable mosaics and sculptures. To make sure they last, our clients are given a "Care and Feeding of Mosaics" sheet with every purchase. This tells them steps they can take to ensure their art pieces last a life time, and can be passed on to the next generation. Our Company Julie began working in mosaics three years after developing an interest in tile production in 1997. Armed with a bag of clay, she began designing tiles and toying with pottery. Before long, she realized she needed a slab roller. Later, her interest developed from tile production toward sculptural mosaics, and including hand formed base structures. Dave entered the scene in 2003, when she asked him, along with Sheri Watson, to assist in the making of Maize-aic. They hope to combine their talents to create new and exciting pieces. So stay tuned!
We look forward to designing something for you! Dave and Julie Morrison |

Artist Statement Julie Wein-Morrison I grew up in a Do Not Touch world. It seemed everything was "hands-off" , "look-but-don't touch". I have always wanted to create art that invited interaction from the viewer and draw them into the pieces. I chose to work in mosaic because tile's inherent quality is that it just begs to be touched. My work attracts attention through color choices-which are usually bright. At closer look, there is something more going on than just little square tile with some color splashed on it. There are different cuts, designs, shapes, sizes, and sculptures of tile. All of them say, "Touch Me". I enjoy watching people approach my work to get a closer look and reach out to it almost automatically. Often, I add bits of mirror to the piece. While this adds a "do-not-touch" quality, it reflects the viewer, causing them to be part of the artwork itself, albeit temporarily. When I am getting ready to create a new piece or a body of work, I like to get in tune with the Master Creator. I will pray for a period of time, sometimes fasting, sketching and reading the Bible daily. I always come away inspired by God's beautiful creation and His promises to us, and a new series of work.
Dave and Julie formed Morrison Mosaics and Metals when they married in the summer. She made this piece called The Wedding Cake to honor their special day. |
