Disaster Strikes

oops.jpg

Hillclimbs became one of my motorsport passions. Then at the Mary's Peak Hillclimb in 1983 I had a little problem. Apparently a front sway-bar mount broke while in the middle of a corner sending me spinning into the side of the mountain. I was relatively uninjured but T-GRRR suffered some heavy damage.

The rebuilding process was slow but extensive.

I decided the brakes could be improved so I changed the fronts to JFZ 4piston calipers with 12 1/8" rotors and adapted Granada disks to the rear.

Ford Granada rear disks have built in parking feature.

Oversized aluminum radiator is shown next to the inadequate 4 row "fat core" it replaced.

Following substantial time spent straightening the chassis on a frame rack, the mechanicals were removed, the interior gutted and the body was stripped.

Opening the polished aluminum panels in the trunk reveals the locations of the NOS bottle and battery flanking the Harwood fuel cell.
