I am adding this page to help spread information about opportunities for families/youth in the area of goats. As the Chairperson for the Clinton County 4-H group, it will also be a great resource for those in our county to stay up-dated on meetings and events for Clinton County.

I believe everything is up-dated. If you find an error, please let me know. I am leaving events in order, as they generally are at about the same time each year.

Be sure to have your goats properly identified by Scrapie tags or tattoos with registration papers. Please be sure to have your blue pen deposit slip with you.PLEASE do not hesitate to contact Joy with any questions you may have.

~~Aug 22 - Sept 1, 2008 Michigan State Fair, If you have never tried it, look into this one. Sessions for boers-youth and open AND a show sponsored by the MBGA, pygmys, market wethers, nigerians, the youth dairy show, the Gold Ribbon showmanship contest, and the open ADGA dairy show. ~~March 8, 2008 MDGS Spring Goat Day Anthony Hall, MSU Held annually on the 2nd Saturday in March, this popular event hosted by the Michigan Dairy Goat Society features many educational and fun classes, contests, and seminars pertaining to dairy goats and their products attended by our membership and others interested in goats.

~~May 3, 2008 Caprine Expo. This day is filled with challenges, goat judging, quiz bowl, skillathon, problem solving, creative writing, crafts and much more. It is such a wonderful opportunity to test your knowledge and skills. Contact your extension office to get registered.

Forms are due to your extension office by March 28, 2008.

~~May 10, 2008 Michigan Boer Goat Association Sanctioned Show. Shiawassee County Fair Grounds. Breed classes and market wethers. See website for full details and registration form.

Registration forms due by April 30 to avoid late fee.

~~Memorial Day Weekend May 24 & 25, 2008. The GLOM spectacular Goat show at the Shiawassee county fairgrounds. This will be an ADGA show, showmanship, one day milk test, the Michigan goat futurity, food, food, food, and lots more. ~~Sunday, June 8, 2008 Oakland County June Jackpot Oakland County Fairgrounds, 12451 Andersonville Rd, Davisburg, MI 48350. There is a $200 award for Grand Champion wether and $100 for reserve. The MBGA Education Committee is also putting on a showmanship clinic & fitting demo.

Reistrations are due May 15, 2008.
