The boys improved to 3-1 with an impressive win over a good Hayden team. Colby S. took the mound and faced only 4 batters the first inning. Nick threw their lead off batter out trying to steal third base. Colby struck out 1 and Mikey and Kyle hooked up for the third out. In the bottom of the first, Nick got us started offensively with a HomeRun. Kyle walked and Colby singled him in and ended up stealing home. Mikey walked and Josh H. drove him in with a triple then stole home. Tyler, Josh S. and Aaron all drew walks. Tyler stole home to give us a 6-0 lead. Chase stepped up and hit a 3 run HomeRun. We ended the first inning with a 9-0 lead.
In the second, Colby struck out 3. In the bottom of the second, Mikey singled and stole home. Josh H. doubled and stole home. Aaron hit a line drive, but was stranded. We ended the second with a 11-0 lead.
In the third, they scored 1 run then Colby struck out 3. In the bottom half, Kyle singled and stole home to give us a 12-1 lead.
In the fourth, Kyle took the mound. They got 1 run off a couple errors we committed. Kyle then struck out 3. In the bottom half Tyler and Colby E. drew walks and the umps called the game due to time and the mercy rule. All the boys played a great game.

We improved to 2-1 with a win over a very talented team. Mikey took the mound and faced 4 batters in the first. Their lead off batter hit one back to Mikey and he and Kyle hooked up for the first out. Mikey then struck out 1. Their clean up batter stepped up and hit a long fly ball to center. Josh H. came up with a huge catch to squash their hopes of some points in the first.
In the bottom half, Nick reached on an error and scored when Chase tripled. Kyle reached on a fielders choice and Mikey drove him in with a single. We ended the first inning with a slim 2-0 lead.
In the second, they got 2 runs off 2 good hits. Chase hooked up with Kyle for 1 out then Mikey hooked up with Chase for a second on a run down. Mikey struck a batter out to end the inning. In the bottom half, Tyler drew a walk and Josh S. drove him in with a double. After 2 innings we lead 3-0.
In the top of the third the boys put on a defensive clinic. Chase made a great stop on a hard grounder and threw to Kyle for the first out. Mikey then knocked down a hard liner straight back at him and completed the out with Kyle. Mikey struck out 1 to end the inning.
In the fourth Nick showed flashes of Johnny Bench when he fielded a beautiful bunt and threw the batter out at first where Kyle had a big target waiting on him. Mikey struck out 1 and threw another out to Kyle to end the inning.
In the bottom half we brought the bats to life. Josh S. reached on an error and Aaron reached when he got hit by a pitch. Chase, Kyle and Colby S. all singled. Mikey cleared the bases with a triple and we ended the inning with 11-2 lead.
In the top of the fifth, Colby came in and mowed the top of their line up down with 3 strike outs. In the bottom half we only needed 1 run to end it by the mercy rule. Aaron drew a walk but was thrown out trying to end the game at home. Nick singled and scored and ended up stealing home for the winning run.
Corner4 is coached by my big brother Sam. They are a talented bunch of kids and Sam does a good job with them. Its a shame we only face each other once each year. I know it is much more fun playing people you know instead of strangers. I know Sambo would like another shot at me. I now lead the head to head battle 3 games to 2. As far as our sons head to head battle goes, Cecil won round 1 in the second inning when he singled and scored 1 of their 2 runs. Mikey won round 2 in the third inning when he struck Cecil out. Everyone had a good time especially these 2 cousins who will talk about this game until next year.
