Obituary: Llewellyn J. Johns
Llewellyn J. Johns' remarkable life of 102 years came
to a peaceful end Feb. 22,2002 at St. Joseph Villa in
Salt Lake City
Born July 3, 1899 in Scot Haven Pa, and raised in
Cambridge, Ohio.
He graduated from the Naval Academy at Annapolis
in the Class of 1921, becoming an outstanding
Officer and gentleman in every sense of the words.
After sea duty on several ships, he became
Naval Aide to Presidents Coolidge and Hoover,
as well as serving aboard the Presidential Yacht
USS Mayflower.
The Navy also sent him to George Washington
University Law School from which he graduated in 1935.
In World War II, he was Captain of the Navy Oiler,
USS Salamonie in the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters.
Many of his Officers and crew still correspond with
their Skipper after all of these 55 years.
He retired from the Navy i n 1950 as a permanent Captain
after 30 years of service, and began a 39 year legal career
practicing Law in San Francisco.
Llewellyn married Ruth " Bunty" Fabian of
Salt Lake City in 1950, and relished their 43
years together.
She died in 1992.
He was a member of theBohemian Club,
American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars,
White Squadron,
and the Masonic Lodge of Cambridge Ohio.
For several decades Llewellyn was an enthusiastic season

Bernard J. Brown, 86, of Boston, Pa., died Monday at home. A retired engineer for the United States in the Panama Canal, he was a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University where he received a degree in civil engineering.
Born April 6, 1913, in Boston, Pa., he was the son of the late George Bernard and Angie Belle Hackett Brown. He is survived by a cousin, Fern Hackett Wisser of Elizabeth Twp. A sister, Isabelle S. Brown died Aug. 7, 1999.
Friends will be received in the Drew J. Gilbert Funeral Home, Inc., Boston, Elizabeth Twp., tomorrow from 9 a.m. until the hour of service there at 12:15 p.m. with the Rev. William K. Little officiating. Interment will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp.

Anna Belle Tamblyn, 68, of Henderson, Nev., formerly of White Oak and North Versailles, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, at home. She was born Sept. 14, 1936, in McKeesport to the late Charles and Grace Farmer Fulmer and also was predeceased by her son, David Glenn Tamblyn, who died July 3, 1992. Mrs. Tamblyn graduated from McKeesport High School in 1954 and worked for Fisher Scientific Co. and Monumental Life Insurance Co.
Surviving are her husband, David C. Tamblyn;
daughter, Denise (James) Winters, of Henderson;
granddaughter, Jennifer (James) Courtney, of Lakewood, Colo.;
brother Charles G. (Janet) Fulmer, of White Oak,
and nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation.
Private graveside services will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery,
