This is just a collection of some of my stuff. None of it's really any good, but I thought someone might appreciate it. Most of this stuff lost a lot of detail in the process of scanning and shrinking. Sorry.
This is a piece I just did to let everyone know, without a shadow of a doubt, that I've gone completely out of my mind. I was flipping through my "drawing extreme comics" book and got the the part about "extreme forshortening" and thought, "hmmmm, instead of a superhero with a huge fist, how about a Russian Orthodox priest-monk with a huge cross? I think I'll do it!" I couldn't scan the whole picture, but I think you get the point.
This is Lady Liberty, proudly waving the American flag and holding her "torch." In this case, her torch happens to be an AK-47. Gotta love it.
There's not much to say about this one, but I like it anyway. It's a little hut with grass that needs to be cut and some pine trees in the back. Reminds me of home. Done in charcoal.
This is Elmer. He's my mascot. I love him because he is both adorable and Republican. Elmer's mute, but if he could talk, he would say, "I'm Elmer. Nice to meet you. I would look better if Holly could color."
Baby phoenix! awwww... I'd pet him, but he'd probably char my hand. This one was also done in acrylic.
This is one of my personal favorites (except for the huge goiter coming from the side of the tower). It's done in charcoal and was really my first attempt at using different shades of coal.
This is another still-life done in colored pencil. This also lost a lot of detail in scanning, shrinking, resizing, etc. The original is much better.
This is a close up of miss nasty's face (I don't have a name for her yet). The original is actually bigger and shows the rest of her face plus a lot more hair, but the scanner cut it off. I kinda like better this way. Done in charcoal. | |
New favorite!
This one was done in acrylic, so naturally it didn't scan right. Sorry. It's a lily.
This is a charcoal piece creatively entitled "Three Huts." Yes, I know what the middle hut looks like and no, it doesn't look like that on purpose. No Freudian analyses, please.
Nighttime and cresent moons seem to be my favorite things to depict. This is a painting done in acrylic. I just kinda randomly threw around some different shades of blue and dark purple. Actually, I was going to throw it away at first, but then it grew on me.
This was my first attempt at using watercolor pencils. Again--nighttime, water, cresent moon. Except in this one, "the moon looks like a purple banana suspended over some water," according to an anonymous art critic. (I'll just call him "dad.") This was another piece I had mixed feelings about, but once again, I decided not to throw it away. I have it hanging in my bathroom.
This is an apple. I wanted to see how realistic I could get colored pencil to look. Not bad, eh?
In the story I'm writing in my head that will more-than-likely never make it to paper, this is one of the main villains. Here she is lookin' nasty.
This is a pixie with an attitude problem. I'm not exactly sure what's in the bag, but I like to think it's a cat. |
